Testing Programs and Services CAS Standards

In 2014, a strategic planning meeting was held by the governing council on NCTA. During that meeting those involved determined NCTA needed to create a larger footprint within higher education. This imperative lead to a goal entered into our strategic plan to become a member of CAS and to work towards the development of Testing Standards.

CAS promotes the use of professional standards for the development, assessment, and improvement of student learning programs and services. CAS is comprised of 42 collaborating professional associations representing over 115,000 professionals in higher education. CAS has developed 44 sets of standards and guidelines including the Testing Programs and Services Standards.

The Testing Programs and Services Standard was developed and released in March, 2019 and the self-assessment guide followed in April, 2019. NCTA is committed to providing professional development through webinars and conference presentation to support its membership in understanding how to implement self assessment an to clarify how it accompanies Test Center Certification.

Test Center Certification

Part of NCTA's mission is "the promotion of professionalism and quality in the administration of testing services and programs." By encouraging self-study and adherence to our professional standards, test center certification is designed to assist test centers in improving their testing processes and their service to examinees.
